The Score presents Amjad Ali Khan, Master of the Sarod. The Score Classical Is a series of international classical concerts & outreach programmes. The sixth concert honors the very best of Indian classical music with the master of the Sarod, Amjad Ali Khan. In a career spanning over 50 years, Amjad Ali Khan has single-handedly elevated the Sarod to one of the most popular traditional instruments in Northern India. Taught by his father, the legendary Haafiz Ali Khan, he is the sixth in an uninterrupted lineage of music masters known as the Senia Bangash School. Winner of Padma Vibhushan, the highest Indian civilian award, Amjad has begun another glorious chapter in the history of Indian classical music. This is a special opportunity to be inspired by the magic of Amjad Ali Khan accompanied by his sons, Amaan Ali and Ayaan Ali, in the intimate setting of the Madinat Theatre and to be touched by Amjad's passion for the traditional Sarod.

The Madinat Theatre proudly presents - The enormously successful production Under African Skies! After their sell out European tour and wowing audiences in Dubai 2012, the show returns to the Madinat Theatre for the second time running! Devised and directed by the Barnyard Theatre Productions, this nostalgic production will take you through the history of South African music, starting off in the 1940's and 1950's and progressing through the decade's right up until the 1990's. This energetic musical features the music of the pennywhistle and Kwela Jazz as well as hits from the late Miriam Makeba along with Paul Simon, The Manhattan Brothers, Johnny Clegg, Mango Groove and many more South African legends. Starring a 14-piece cast consisting of a 6 piece live band and 8 vocalists, this internationally show not to be missed.
